About Kevin VanEmburgh (Pal Kev)
My name is Kevin VanEmburgh and I create art under the pseudonym Pal Kev. My art philosophy centers on finding humor in life’s contrasts, often using skulls and flowers as symbols. I’m inspired by light-hearted themes and sometimes deeper ideas, blending faces and abstract art with colors seen every day in nature. I create simple, fun pieces that offer a fresh perspective on mortality and life in both digital and acrylic mediums. The work stands out for its ability to bring emotion to life while exploring complex themes, making art that is striking and engaging.
My art licensing goals include expanding my reach to partners that match my aesthetic of skulls (Hugo), abstract geometric patterns and grids.
Hugo
Hugo is a playful skull character without a body, sometimes coming out of a bottle of wine or just floating, designed to bring a lighthearted and quirky charm to the abstract world. With darting eyes, Hugo brings humor and curiosity, adding a unique twist to the concept of skulls in art.
Abstract Geometric
This abstract geometric art features clean lines, circles and curves that blend into a light, easy color palette. The compositions balance simple arrangements of angles and symmetry, often evoking a sense of energy or flow. With a minimalist yet expressive style, this work explores the relationship between form, space, and color.
Grids Projects
Here I explore a range of subjects, from faces to animals to landscapes. The layout of these elements in a seemingly abstract grid creates a unique rhythm, with blocks that come together to form a cohesive image, while blending the qualities of the subjects with the color order of the composition. This series creates curves with straight lines giving viewers the chance to absorb each image as it comes together from afar.
